Minor

Thomas X. Minor, M.D.

Dr. Thomas X. Minor was born at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. His parents, William and Ellen, are both decorated Vietnam War veterans, and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He graduated from Northgate High School in Walnut Creek in 1990. His introduction to the Central Valley began at age 18 after accepting a baseball scholarship to California State University, Fresno. Dr. Minor pitched in the 1991 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Following his senior campaign, he was recognized as a third team All- American pitcher, as well as the team MVP. Dr. Minor also received the Co-SIDA academic All-American of the Year award, presented to the top Division I student athlete. He was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals and enjoyed a two-year professional baseball career.

In 1996, Dr. Minor matriculated to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, graduating President of his Senior class. He completed residency training in Urological Surgery from 2000-2006 at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a top 5 program in the United States. He shared 5 cross-over training years with his current partner, Dr. Nadeem Rahman while at UCSF.

In 2006-2007, Dr. Minor completed a fellowship in robotic surgery at Austin Hospital in Victoria, Australia under the guidance of Dr. Damien Bolton.

Dr. Minor has proudly served the Central Valley as a board certified Urological Surgeon since 2007. Dr. Minor’s subspecialty interests include the treatment of prostate and kidney cancer utilizing robotic and laparoscopic techniques.  He enjoys microscopic reconstruction in the field of infertility as well as advanced endoscopic therapy for kidney stone disease.  Dr. Minor is skilled in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) both in the office and operating theatre.  He has successfully performed over 6500 vasectomies in the course of his 13 year career thus far.

In 2019, Dr. Minor proudly co-founded California Urology with Dr. Rahman to provide the best urological services in the Clovis, Fresno and surrounding communities.

In Dr. Minor’s spare time, he enjoys archery, classic cars, and farming pistachios and grapes at his ranch, Villa Minore and most importantly spending time with his family.

Nadeem Rahman, M.D.

Dr. Rahman graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his Urology residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He has co-authored numerous nationally recognized articles and has spoken extensively at national and international meetings. He was recently awarded the Robert Krane Prize in Urology for the top research paper in the British Journal of Urology.

He initially started his career in Arizona but returned to California to join Valley Urology. Dr. Rahman’s professional interests include male infertility, erectile dysfunction, male and female reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive surgery for prostate and kidney cancer. He is regarded as a national expert in the field of robotic surgery. As such, he is actively sought to teach other Urologist robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

 

While not attending to patients, Dr.Rahman enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Andrew A. Chi, M.D.

Andrew A. Chi, M.D., is a board-certified urologist specializing in stone disease, kidney and bladder conditions.

Before joining California Urology, Dr. Chi cared for patients at Kaiser Permanente in Fresno. He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California and completed residencies in urology and general surgery at University of California, Davis. Dr. Chi became a urologist because he enjoys the challenge of surgery and working with his hands. He also values building connections with his patients over time as he manages their chronic and sometimes recurrent issues like bladder cancer and kidney stones. He believes in patient-centered care and aims to treat his patients how he would want his family members to be treated.

Anas Hamdi, M.D.

Dr. Hamdi will be the latest addition to California Urology. He has a passion for all aspects of urology and has been trained on all types of robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, female urology and incontinence. He is interested in broad aspects of Urology to take care of the needs of the Central Valley. He has deep rooted ties to the Valley and is excited about providing care here.

Zhoobin Bateni, M.D.

Zhoobin Bateni, M.D. has a background in Family Medicine and Urology. As a practicing Urologist in Iran for over 7 years, he performed complex Urological surgery in the field of general Urology, stone surgery and oncology. With his continued education here in Family Medicine, he is able to expand upon this urology knowledge to have a keen understanding of Medical Urology especially in field of BPH, Stone management, Infection/inflammation in Urology as well as medical management of Urological Cancers. He will be able to bridge the gap between mid-levels and Urological Surgeons for California Urology.

Timothy Juwono, MD

Dr. Timothy Juwono was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He obtained his
undergraduate degree at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in biochemistry and went on to pursue his medical degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa Bay. He completed his Urology residency at the University of South Florida, training at one of the few programs in the country with a SMSNA (Sexual Medicine Society of North America)-endorsed curriculum as well as a highly-ranked cancer center.

His professional interests in Urology include general urology, sexual medicine and prosthetics, GU oncology, and robotic surgery. His goal is to provide the best level of care that leaves a positive impact on his patients.

In his spare time, Dr. Juwono enjoys spending time with his family, trying new restaurants, watching movies, swimming, and playing the piano.

Education
Chao Vang, N.P.

Chao Vang, R.N., M.S.N., F.N.P., is one of the most experienced nurse practitioners specializing in Urology. She has a strong commitment in patient’s treatment from new referrals, follow-ups, and patient education for the prevention of diseases. She works closely with the urologists in getting patients ready for surgical interventions from pre-operative history and physical and post-operative visits and procedures.

Chao began her college education at California State University, Fresno where she earned her Bachelor of Science as a Registered Nurse. After completing her undergraduate degree, she started her nursing career in 1996 where she worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for eight years, while simultaneously earning her Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) at California State University, Fresno. 

She has been working as a nurse practitioner in Urology since 2002. Chao is happily married with five children.  In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and works on her gardens.

Gagandeep Khara, N.P.

Gagandeep Khara, N.P. comes to California Urology with many years of experience. She started off her career as a registered nurse then onto becoming a nurse practitioner. She has experience in many fields including internal medicine, hospitalist, nephrology and urology. She hopes to continue her work at California Urology to deliver the best urologic care in the valley.

Jim Kane, N.P.

Jim is a native to the valley and for many years, has worked in the ER setting as a charge nurse at Saint Agnes Medical Center. During his time at SAMC, he has developed an emphasis on Urology and has been able to manage inpatients in Urology and is ready to transition to a full Urology practice. When Jim is not attending to the needs of his patients he is working as a Captain, soon to be Major in the California Air National Guard. In his spare time Jim enjoys skiing, backpacking, cooking, and CrossFit. Jim treasures his time with family. His daughter Grace is 22 and recently married. She is getting her masters at Fresno State University in marriage and family therapy. Jim’s son Ryan is 19 and studying pre-environmental engineering at Clovis Community College. This year Jim celebrated 24 years of marriage to his beautiful supportive wife Heather.

Cory Ipsen, P.A.

Cory Ipsen is a board-certified Physician Assistant who was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He began his college education at the University of Utah, graduating at the top of his class with honors in Health Promotion and Education. He then accepted a scholarship to attend PA school at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA, receiving medical training by world renowned organizations such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. During his training, Cory was drawn to the field of urology and the opportunity to care for patients throughout the many stages of their lives. Outside of work, Cory enjoys spending time traveling, hiking, camping, and exploring the great outdoors with his wife and two children.
